Louie’s Wine Dive & Clayton Kitchen

A trip to Saint Louis to visit family spelled golden opportunity for the husband and I. Thanks to my parents, we had our first baby-free date night since she was born, and we needed a fun place to celebrate in. Cue Louie’s Wine Dive.

This location of the Midwestern chain was situated in the Clayton business district of Saint Louis, and offered the perfect atmosphere for a night on the town. The chandeliers and wall decor featured a fun touch of colorful glass bottles that confirmed we were in the right place for a stiff drink. We sidled up to the bar and ordered off their happy hour menu — peach Bellini for me, and a beer for my husband.

This place has a TON of drink options. Their drink menu had pages on pages of specialty cocktails, brews and wines. But their food was just as good. Check out the cheese curd appetizers we ordered with a dill aioli and marinara sauce. It was so good I ate the entire thing before I realized I meant to take a photo. But don’t worry, I still got a shot — I’m just that dedicated.

I did remember to take a picture of the rest of the meal. I sneaked some butternut squash ravioli off of my husband’s plate, and polished off my four-pork house-made gnocchi. I still can’t decide which was better.

And it wouldn’t be date night without dessert. This white chocolate bread pudding was to die for. Plus it had a bourbon sauce because, at this point, why not add some more booze to our evening?

In addition to the amazing food and drinks, the servers were a lot of fun. The bartenders made sure we had drinks lined up before we finished the ones in front of us. All in all, Louie’s was a great place to spend an adult evening. We might even visit again on our next date night — next year.
